Club Officer Training

Hello District 30-M Lions,

Empowering leaders is a North American Membership Initiative (NAMI) goal. One way to empower leaders is to be sure they understand their specific job within their club. Training is one way to understand the job.

Our District Global Leadership Team (GLT) has three training sessions scheduled for club level leaders. Each session lasts about 90 minutes. We’ll use the Zoom platform. Any Lion is more than welcome to participate and learn.

The club treasurers have their training at 10:00 a.m. The club treasurer is the most trustworthy Lion in the club. Why? Because club members trust the treasurer to handle their money. The treasurer needs to fully understand the safeguards for good financial stewardship.

The noon training session is for the club secretary. A secretary does a lot more than just record the minutes of the meeting. The club secretary is the liaison between the club and Lions Club International (LCI). It’s the secretary who reports membership and activities. The District Governor and Vice District Governors reads those reports.

Club president training begins at 2:00 p.m. It’s ideal if the club president and all the clubs vice presidents participate. The vice president is really a president in training. Presiding over and leading volunteers is challenging but always fulfilling. The GLT will provide some ideas on how to include more club members in various projects.

Maybe this Saturday is not the best day for club officers to train. There can be work, family or even club service projects that take priority. The GLT planned for personal scheduling conflicts on Saturday.

We have consolidated club officer training on Tuesday, June 9th beginning at 7:00 p.m.

If you need the Zoom meeting number and password for any of these, please contract our new GLT coordinator, Past District Governor Arland “Ace”Eilert by e-mail.

We have one more club officer training alternative. That alternative is available on-demand 24x7 via the internet.

Log into the Lions Learning Center (LLC). The LLC is part of the LCI web site. The only requirement is a Lion must have a membership number. The club secretary has that. Specific club officer training is just one of dozens of on-demand courses offered by the LLC. Each course takes about 45 minutes to complete. Best of all, it’s free. There are many interesting courses available on the LLC.

Have a great weekend but remember our motto,

We Serve because Kindness Matters
