Upcoming Lions Meetings

The local Lions Club is the at the heart of providing service to the community. Many Lions often forget they are part of an international association. That association has nearly unlimited financial resources. Some Lions forget their club is just one of more than 48,000 local Lions Clubs around the World. Lions have a presence in more than 200 countries. Lions provide service to more than 200,000 million people. What type of service?

To help remember the scope of Lions work, there are quarterly meetings in each district. For District 30-M which is the northern half of Mississippi, here are the dates to save.

Saturday, July 18th  – 10 a.m. – Noon.

Those attending hear reports about the work of the Lions Club International Foundation. There is a Lions of Mississippi Sight Foundation with primary emphasis on the Lions Eye Bank. The eye bank is the only one in Mississippi. Another organization providing a report is the Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Service in Memphis.

Within the state, Lions also have many projects. Two are the annual Boys Leadership Conference and the Girls Leadership Conference. Another is the Diabetes summer Camp. So is the Sea and Sun Camp – for children with a visual or hearing impairment. Lions help both the visually impaired and the hearing impaired.

If you want to discover another great Lions project, Google “Mississippi Lions All State Band”. This is a group of about 150 high school musicians. They’ve won more than 30 International championships.

With so many projects underway simultaneously, it is easy to overlook the impact Lions make on a daily basis in our state. That’s why these quarterly meetings are important.

In addition to these district meetings, there are three Saturday meetings in the Lions State Office, 431 Katherine Drive, Flowood, MS 39232. This is when state committees meet to discuss business relating to their specific committee.

  • July 25th
  • October 31st
  • March 27th

Reserve those dates to discover the work of Lions around the world, around Mississippi and around your community.
