Remember This Saturday

On Saturday all Lions who live in Mississippi have an important webinar. The topic is the North American Membership Initiative (NAMI). Let’s briefly discuss some information including the registration process.

A goal of NAMI is to increase membership in Lions Club International (LCI) by June 30, 2021. That date marks the end of the LCI fiscal year. For the past 38 years, more people dropped their LCI membership than joined. The primary goal of NAMI is to reverse that trend.

Within that overall goal are several smaller goals. There are NAMI goals for the District and individual club. That’s the main purpose in the webinar.

Many clubs ceased meeting due to the coronavirus. That’s no one’s fault. However, the coronavirus will not stop Lions from reaching the NAMI goal. The coronavirus may prove to demonstrate to Lions and prospective Lions just how fearless and resourceful Lions are when they set their mind on a common purpose.

Fearless does not mean reckless. It means outsmarting and outworking the conditions that seem insurmountable. Resourceful means thinking outside the box. It means not being satisfied with the status quo.

Past International Director Jerome Thompson of Moulton, Alabama is the principal speaker. He is the overall NAMI chair for what Lions call Constitutional Area 1 (the United States). He is a gifted public speaker who can explain a complex plan in simple and easy to understand terms.

During the webinar, District Governor Andy Kalinowski will explain how District 30-M will achieve success. There are four different areas, with two of those areas resting squarely on local clubs regardless of membership numbers.

There is a webinar preregistration form. It only takes a few minutes. In addition to getting the URL for the actual webinar, you will also receive an e-mail reminder an hour before the start. Best of all, it costs only your time. There are 1000 seats available for this webinar. That means it’s first come, first served. Don’t delay until the last minute and find out there is no room.

Consider inviting a club member who does not have internet access to the place where you will view the webinar. Having a “watch meeting” is a great way to immediately discuss the topics. It’s a perfect time to talk about applying the principles learned.

Speaking of a meeting, consider using this webinar in place of a club meeting. The topics discussed will surpass the program of most local Lions Clubs.

For NAMI to succeed it is a total team effort. This webinar demonstrates the commitment of LCI and the District. Can we count on individual clubs and individual Lions to support NAMI by attending?
